plz i need help :( Translate the word phrase into a variable expression. The quotient of a number and 3 is decreased by 1. A. 3n-1 B. 1-n/3 C. n/3-1 D. 1-3/n
Hi, What part do you not understand, or all of it?
So 3 is decreased by 1: 3-1. The quotient of a number = division. You can eliminate A, because it has no division. You can also eliminate B because 3-1 is not in it. C is most likely correct, because it has all the components said. You can eliminate D, because it said "3 decreased by 1", not "1 decreased by 3". So yes, C is the answer!
all of it
The answer is above. After you read it, let me know if you have anything else you don't understand about this question.
quotient is what you get when you divide 2 terms and to decrease means to get less so you subtract
Sorry if my response wasn't very helpful or anything. I just joined and really tired so idk if it is all that helpful. Thanks for reading, and let me know if you need any more help! :)
