How did you get 37?

pooja195 (pooja195):

I recommend setting up the problem like this \[\huge~\rm~5+22-\frac{ (3)(6) }{ 3 }\] Now try to solve it and tell me what you get.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is 19

pooja195 (pooja195):

Then i think there is a mistake in how you typed it...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nop

pooja195 (pooja195):

Thats weird.... :/ @mathmate @ganeshie8 @SolomonZelman ?

OpenStudy (mathmate):

@davilamaster1 Can you please post an image of the question and the answer choices?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (mathmate):

Was the question: \(\Large\frac{5+22-3(6)}{3}\) ? Whenever you're transcribing a fraction, you need to put brackets around the numerator and the denominator, like: \(\Large\frac{(5+22-3(6))}{(3)}\) which transcribes to (5 + 22 - 3(6)) ÷(3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

aja

OpenStudy (mathmate):

I don't know if the correct answer choices correspond to the questions. If they do, then there is a mistake in the question. There is not one expression that matches any of the answer choices.

OpenStudy (en):

hmmm placed that in my calculator and the answer is three..

OpenStudy (en):

\[\frac{ 5+22-3(6) }{ 3 }\]\[=\frac{ 5+22-18 }{ 3 }\]\[=\frac{ 5+4 }{ 3}\]\[=\frac{ 9 }{ 3 }\]\[=3\] i solved also solved it manually. @davilamaster
