OpenStudy (chrisplusian):

Determine the resultant force for P and T by the geometric solution (using sine and/or cosine law).

OpenStudy (chrisplusian):

OpenStudy (chrisplusian):

I am able to determine the simple things but I can't see how to find the third angle. Since it is not a right triangle I can't use pythagorean, and I don't have enough information to use law of sines, or cosines. The only thing I could think of is somehow converting the T= 600lb into ft somehow (but it does not seem possible)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

D= 90?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if so, then we know BD and DC, and AC is given knowing AD and BD. if D is a right triangle, gives you the 2 legs of a right triangle and the trig functions can all be ratioed

OpenStudy (chrisplusian):

How would we know AD?
