Enzymes lower the activation energy, they increase the rate of forward And reverse reactions, if I'm correct which consequently doesn't affect the equilibrium. So enzymes just lower the activation energy; I believe that the molecules they act on are called substrates, enzyme and substrate combine to form what's called an enzyme substrate complex.
