Mathematics 22 Online
OpenStudy (zmudz):

Find the minimum value of \(\frac{x^2}{x-1}\) for \(x > 1.\)

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

What course is this?

OpenStudy (zmudz):

precalc

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

What I would do is: 1) Differentiate the function, 2) Find the critical numbers (considering where \(f'(x)=0\), and the interval of \(\small (1,\infty)\) 3) Find which critical number has maximum output. -------------------------------------------- But you are not familiar with that method, are you?

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

So, one thing we can do is just to graph the function

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

`www.desmos.com/calculator` graph it on that site and that will give you the answer.
