I wanna say B

zepdrix (zepdrix):

Hmm, well it's certainly not A, right? :) We're going from 8 to 10 people.. the recipe shouldn't jump from just under 1 cup to over 4 cups!!

zepdrix (zepdrix):

How do you usually solve these types of problems? Set up a proportion I guess? :o

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes is Incorrect

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well um i just started this today

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I wanna say B

zepdrix (zepdrix):

The ratio of `3/5 of a cup` per `8 people` should stay preserved. \[\large\rm \frac{3/5}{8}=\frac{x}{10}\]So 3/5 per 8 people is equivalent to some amount per 10 people. We could cross multiply I guess. Or simply multiply by 10. Is this method too confusing?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes but i think i can catch on XD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

brb

OpenStudy (anonymous):

back

zepdrix (zepdrix):

If I multiply both sides by 10,\[\large\rm 10\cdot\frac{3/5}{8}=\frac{x}{\cancel{10}}\cdot\cancel{10}\]Another way we can write this,\[\large\rm \frac{10}{8}\cdot\frac{3}{5}=x\]I applied some tricky fraction rules D: Lemme know if that was too confusing. So the amount you want is the simplified version of that.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So were simplfying

zepdrix (zepdrix):

Ya :d

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh okay

zepdrix (zepdrix):

So simplify :D Do it. Go. Do it. XD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay wait a sec im really bad at this >><

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I cant do this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I wanna say B or D

zepdrix (zepdrix):

\[\large\rm \frac{10}{8}\cdot\frac{3}{5}=x\]\[\large\rm \frac{10\cdot3}{8\cdot5}=x\]\[\large\rm \frac{30}{40}=x\]And simplify further :O

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i cant ;-;
