OpenStudy (radvedder):

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP WITH GRAPHING LINEAR EQUATIONS: STANDARD FORM??

OpenStudy (radvedder):

y=2-3x

Nnesha (nnesha):

do you need to graph that equation ?

OpenStudy (radvedder):

No I just need to put it in Standard Form

OpenStudy (radvedder):

Determine whether each equation is a linear equation. Write yes or no. If yes, write the equation in standard form.

Nnesha (nnesha):

oh alright standard form is Ax+By =C

OpenStudy (radvedder):

Yes but I don't know how to get it in standard form

Nnesha (nnesha):

just move the x term to the left side

OpenStudy (radvedder):

:( like -3x??

Nnesha (nnesha):

yes that's the x term so how would you cancel out -3x from right side ? would you add ,subtract divide or multiply 3x?

OpenStudy (radvedder):

add 3x?

Nnesha (nnesha):

yes right do it! :=)

OpenStudy (radvedder):

but now it's 1y+3x=2 ??

Nnesha (nnesha):

yes x comes first so 3x+y =2

OpenStudy (radvedder):

And that's the answer?

OpenStudy (radvedder):

Can you help me with more of them please?

Nnesha (nnesha):

i'll try i'm here for few mints

OpenStudy (radvedder):

Ok and 5x=y-4

OpenStudy (radvedder):

add 4?

OpenStudy (radvedder):

or subtract 1y

Nnesha (nnesha):

you should move the y to the left side so subtract y

OpenStudy (radvedder):

and I got 5x-y=-4 correct?

Nnesha (nnesha):

looks good

OpenStudy (radvedder):

and on 5x+6=3x+2 I subtract 3x from each side and I get 2x+6y=2 ?

Nnesha (nnesha):

is it 6y ? then yes

OpenStudy (radvedder):

Yes it is

OpenStudy (radvedder):

Ok and y=2x+5 Subtract 2x from each side is it -2x+y=5?

OpenStudy (radvedder):

or 2x-y=5

Nnesha (nnesha):

i'll go with 2nd one my teach taught us to multiply by negative one if a is negative

Nnesha (nnesha):

so both are the same depends on options ....
