s represents the weight of the boxes Steven lifted while Nathan carried 12 lb more than Steven. So what does this mean? It means you will have to use addition...(s + 12). This means that Nathan boxes are 12 more than s (Steven's boxes). And we know Nathan carried 13 boxes in total so we will have to place the 13 outside the parenthesis to later distribute. So the equation would be 13(s + 12).
