OpenStudy (sammietaygreen):

Determine which is the graph of the function. f(x) = {3x + 2 if < 5; -3x - 2 if x ≥ 5

OpenStudy (freckles):

Do you know how to graph y=3x+2?

OpenStudy (sammietaygreen):

My teacher allows us to use graphing calcs so yes

OpenStudy (freckles):

ok well I would draw y=3x+2 on a paper and erase the part of the line that comes after x=5 and put a hole at x=5 since it is says f(x)=3x+2 when x<5 (which means this part does not include what happens at x=5)

OpenStudy (freckles):

then on that same paper (the same graph) draw y=-3x-2

OpenStudy (freckles):

but for it erase every part of that line that comes before x=5

OpenStudy (sammietaygreen):

Okay one sec. Lemme start that and see if i get it.

OpenStudy (sammietaygreen):

|dw:1441828029756:dw| would it look something like this?

OpenStudy (freckles):

well you have some overlapping x values there
