OpenStudy (studyx3):

Can someone please explain dimensional analysis to me? I have very little understanding of it.

OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):

The idea is to use the units of a number to figure out the operation you need to use to get a value with the units you want. For example, if you have a speed (50 miles per hour) and a time (2 hours), you can find the distance traveled by noticing that hours is in the denominator of the speed. So, if you multiply the speed and the time together, the unit of hours cancels and you are left with a unit of miles (distance).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Dimensional analysis is basically conversion such as from kilograms to grams, hours to days, and liters to gallons.
