Electron and Proton are sub-atomic particles so immediately it comes to my mind that they can't be the answer. A particle can be any particle like it can be a particle of diamond which is made up of only carbon atoms or can be a particle of sugar which is a compound and made up  of three different atoms. So again it can't be the answer. What is left?
