This Law being of Everlasting Equity, wherein Man Stealing is ranked amongst the most atrocious of Capital Crimes: What louder Cry can there be made of the Celebrated Warning, Caveat Emptor! What is the meaning of this excerpt from Sewall's "The Selling of Joseph"? Slavery is a crime against God. Selling slaves is punishable by the church. God will punish those who sell stolen goods. Stealing is never mentioned in the Bible.
