Carbon is the basis for life on earth because it _____. A. forms many organic molecules B. produces water molecules C. stores information D. is part of most inorganic molecules
A
I would like to provide you to why this element carbon is so important. Carbon has four valence electrons electrons that are in the farthest shell that are least bound by the nucleus and are essential in chemical bonding. This aspect meaning that carbon can make a wide variety of bonds, from singe , to double to triple bonds, in which 2,4,6 electrons are shared. This gives carbon the ability to make a wide variety of different molecules and structures. Carbon is also stable A Yes it does form many organic molecules for the reasons I stated, basically anything that's living contains carbon. B 2 H2 + O2-----> 2 H2O that's how water is formed typically. D is wrong because in organic means a compound that does not have carbon. C, not really stores information is false because DNA yes it contains carbon but it contains the nitrogenous bases that are essential for information.
For B, you can form water from carbon there are reactions that do this but the main and primary one is the one i listed above with hydrogen and oxygen, you can see that no carbon is contained there.

Good job @greatlife44
so A?
I think we would agree that it's A.
