So I'll hazard a guess at b, but that isn't all that okay because is it necessarily harsh to life? I mean sure, its gruesome, that all we eat is in the end result of death ... but its just the food chain, right?

that was what i was thinking. He is accepting that this is his inevitable fate. He refers the nature (flowers and melons) as beautiful.  But is death beautiful or harsh?and yeah, his corpse will provide energy to the plants. so thats food chain *stumped*
