It is taken from CO2 converted to glucose then either converted back to CO2 or it is used for other processes and may expelled another way.

Well you are right @carlyleukhardt but only for photosynthesis......In respiration, Glucose which is a 6 Carbon molecule is broken down to CO2 & H2O
