Ice wouldn't float. Thus the bottom of the oceans would be ice. And the bottom of the ocean (if you believe in evolution) is where life began. Thermophiles is the correct term to call them. Basically an organism that relies on heat instead of sunlight to generate energy. They are little creatures that live by sulfuric vents at the bottom of the ocean. It's crazy how they can even survive there. So in summary, if life wasn't able to have ever began down there, life wouldn't be here today.
