In a coding language, Mumbai is written as 10110153, Pune is written as 121114.Then how would the word Banglore be written? 1) 1511751221164 2) 1511651021144 3) 15115592144 4) 15118592112

hartnn (hartnn):

comparing last 3 letters and numbers in Mumbai b is 1 and a is 5 (and i is 3) (which seems to be correct seeing the options) n could be 11

hartnn (hartnn):

P U N E 12 1 11 4

representation should be unique if U=1 then b can't be 1 :O

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

agreed, good point!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so they might be a kay

hartnn (hartnn):

just a thought, why does the representation needs to be unique?? there could be a function which gives number of letters in the spelling a word.. then 1 = one =3, 2 = two = 3, ... and so on... multiple representations...

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

yeah it should be fine as long as it is invertible

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well every thing is possible with such question, but mainly in crypt a letter could be represented in at least one way, and not a code could represent more than a letter , just saying

OpenStudy (anonymous):

at least from options this is what happens xD (even though i hate to say it) M u m b a i 10 1 10 1 5 3 P u n e 12 1 11 4

OpenStudy (mathmath333):

no 2.) is correct By the way the correct spelling of Banglore is "bangalore" B A N G A L O R E 1 5 11 $$\color{red}{6}$$ 5 102114 4 Since A is used 5 G must assign 6

hartnn (hartnn):

"G must assign 6" why?? could be anything

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Why G must be assign 6?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i'll try something else

OpenStudy (mathmath333):

oh it should be 1.) then

OpenStudy (mathmath333):

Do u agree that only option 1.) and 2.) should be correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it also could be c :P we don't know if 5 would represent something other than b as i assumed 1 could or w.e

hartnn (hartnn):

only option 4 is out.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

other than a*

OpenStudy (mathmath333):

in option b.) 2) 1511651021144 44 in the last represents 'ee' thus 2.) should be out leaving 1.)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Mumbai 10110153, Pune 121114 U could be 1,11,111 only

OpenStudy (mathmath333):

and option 3.) is also out as 3) 15115592144 It doesnt represent the $$\color{red}{a}$$ in the middle with 5 only one time 5 is repeated twice Bang$$\color{red}{a}$$lore

-.-

OpenStudy (mathmath333):

This looks like reasoning type question not strictly math involved

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so we need to be in the cruel mind for whom wrote it depending on options instead of doing it mathematically lol

OpenStudy (mathmath333):

So I would go for 1.) the last verdict!
