What literary technique is exemplified by this quotation from Ethan Frome? "When Ethan could sweat over ’em both from sun-up to dark he kinder choked a living out of ’em; but his folks ate up most everything, even then, . . ."

Let me guess, Jaynator's alt account but he's too embarrassed to post this on his main account ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

who is Jaynator?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@twinarmageddons do you think you could help with this question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is this an open-ended question, or do you have a few answer choices? It's a little hard to tell since the quote is vague. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I thought about it a little more. I think it's a hyperbole. "He kinder choked a living out of 'em", "his folks ate up most everything" No matter how hard Ethan worked, it was never enough.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its a short answer question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you i will let you know if its right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay! :)
