A birthday celebration meal is $42.60 including tax, but not the tip. Find the total cost if a 10% tip is added?

OpenStudy (♪chibiterasu):

Multiply by 1.10.

OpenStudy (♪chibiterasu):

When adding a percentage of a number to itself you just multiply by 1.(percentage)

OpenStudy (♪chibiterasu):

1.10 is the same a 1.1

46.20*0.10*1?

10% was added. what is 10% of $42.60? Now Minus the answer from $42.60 and you are left with the answer. $42.60 /100 x 10 =$4.26 this is 10% $42.60- Tip 10% ($4.26) = Ans $38.34

One being a server the tip should be 20 percent not ten lol but the answer would be $4.26 and now the server hates you for giving them a crappy tip on a 40 dollar check! lol Please vote my answer as best answer so I get extra credit in my math class (: Oh and for future reference when you are out to eat the easy way to find out a good tip of 20 percent is you figure that for every five dollars spent it is a one dollar tip so if you spend 25 dollars it is 5 dollar tip if you spend 50 it is a ten dollar tip if you spend 75 it is a 15 dollar tip if you spend 100 it is a twenty dollar tip.
