Cell membranes are often called a “fluid mosaic” of lipids and proteins. What is the role of the cell membrane structures? A) Structurally support the cell B) Store nutrients for the cell to consume C) Produce ATP to provide energy for the cell D) Selectively allow some materials into the cell

OpenStudy (rushwr):

Cell membrane regulates the exit of base materials. And also transport materials in 2 ways active and passive. So I would go with D. A is wrong because membrane acts only as a dynamic boundary and doesn't support the cell. B and C are wrong !

OpenStudy (anonymous):

D, but depending on the membrane it might store proteins. However, it's best to just go with the simplest (correct!) answer if the question isn't specific.

D
