OpenStudy (howard-wolowitz):

Can someone check my answers?

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

mean and median is measures of the centre...

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

when data is skewed there are outliers. The problem with outliers they have a significant influence on the mean.... e.g. 1, 2, 3, 100 the mean is 26.25 eliminate the outlier 100 and the mean is 2 if you look at the 4 numbers the median is 2.5 which is the best measure of the centre mean or median... this idea needs to be applied to skewed data

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

is range of a data set affected by outliers...? range is a measure of spread

OpenStudy (howard-wolowitz):

so which one are you saying im incorrect on? the third and fourth one

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

well i'd say the 2nd question the 3rd question and you may be missing something in the last question

OpenStudy (howard-wolowitz):

So, the second question would actually be center! The third question is actually false. The last question is missing range! am i right?

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

that's how I would answer them,

OpenStudy (howard-wolowitz):

oh one problem i can onnly mark at max three of the things in question three so something is wrong there

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

well leave your 3... I just thought you missed a choice but the 3 chosen all cover the question

OpenStudy (howard-wolowitz):

oh ok
