A tennis ball is thrown into the air with velocity 56 feet per second. It's height in feet t seconds later is given by f(t)=56t-16t^2 A.) find the average velocity for the time period beginning when t=2 seconds and lasting.... i. 0.5 seconds. ii. 0.1 iii. 0.05. iv. 0.01 B.) using your work in part a, estimate the instantaneous velocity when t=2
part A is just finding the slope between 2 points; namely t=2 and t=2+d part B, as the value of d gets smaller, what is the slope look like its getting closer to?
I'm lost
using \(f(t)=56t-16t^2\) for i) , first calculate f(2.5) - f(2)
that will give you the difference in height between those two points in time yes?!
then divide your answer by 0.5 0.5s is how long it too to move between those points the calculation gives you an approximation of speed at t = 2. those are the steps
