I have a line JKL. JK = 8y + 4, KL = 4y + 8 and JL = 15y -9 find the value of x. What should I do since I don't know the whole size of this line segment?

you do know the full length of the line. The line is jkl, and you know segments jk, kl, and jl, try drawing it out and seeing if that clears it up for you.
