How do I solve this? Below are 36 sorted ages of an acting award winner. Find the percentile corresponding to age 63
how many data points are there?
36
and it looks like they are listed in order (sorted) for you already so thats a plus. a percentile is a division by 100, we divide it into 100 parts. what position does 63 occupy in the ordered format?
20
im looking at the 36 arent i
63 is the 20th number .. youre right
so, 20 out of 36 = x out of 100 is our comparison
\[\frac{20}{36}=\frac{x}{100}\] this should give us the percentile of the number 63 in the data set
x=55.6
and we need to round sooo ...
56
56 feels good to me .... not saying its right, but that would be my approach
alright I'll give it a go. Thank for the help!
56% of the data is 63 or less
good luck
