We started at 2 though.
So you need to add 2.25 to your 2 to find the half-way point.

An alternative is to add up the two numbers. Then divide by 2
\[\Large \frac{2+6.5}{2}=\frac{8.5}{2} = 4.25\]
and you get the same answer. The method zepdrix used is probably more intuitive though.
