Help?

OpenStudy (mdilley):

I am unsure of if I want to go to college for my careers because I hear a lot that I would not need college, just the skills and talents. I find thinking about my future stressful sometimes, the money it takes to pay for college, etc. I want to be a Audio Engineer/Producer and Computer Programmer, both, not just one. It seems like it would be hard to make it big in the music industry. College would only be 3 years away, that is if I choose to go. I also don't want to be the type of person to get college funds, scholarships are okay because I've earned it. I want to be succesful- but happy.

i don't think anyone is going to hire a computer programmer without some sort of degree or comparable experience. If i were you, I'd either consider college, or start working on projects and meeting with the right people who can offer you jobs soon. Get connections or get a degree I always say.

OpenStudy (mdilley):

Im asking because my dad and uncle are both very succesful as a computer programmer without even finishing highschool- my uncle is CEO of Fliparam and my dad works for another big company...and they tell me I dont need to go to college- i dont know

OpenStudy (koikkara):

@mdilley I would suggest you that having a degree will just secure your life, which is ofcourse a secondary option for students who prefer to be successful in life. It have a lot of importance in the terms of wages/ remuneration the company offers. And the primary option is to earn Experience in the field you like without a degree or with a degree. When you become a programmer, you may feel to discover much higher options than your father or uncle has achieved. And for this higher exploration you need a degree as well as top knot-administrative skills.(i.e, your experience\) Personally, i too thought of the same once as my parents are the superiors of the society, well known by the Govt. of our country and part of the defense team working as a scientist n an architect..

OpenStudy (kakarot):

what does that have to do with sewage?

OpenStudy (prince_vegeta):

idk

OpenStudy (mdilley):

@Kakarot @Prinkce_Vegeta , sorry i must have clicked the wrong tab.

OpenStudy (greencat):

Do you really think sewer rats can help you in career decisions?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

your right, collage is unnecessary BUT most places wont even consider you without a collage background, i suggest go to collage because it could be a new experience and you will most definitely learn some new stuff, as for the music part i cant help you out there but if you want a music career more then a programmer then najor in some typ of music class and minor in computer science, if you would rather be a programer (which i suggest) then major in computer science
