Factor and simplify m^2-7mn+12n^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well first things first, that's factoring the problem.. So factor the quadratic which is.. \[m^2-7mn+12n^2\] The factors of 12 that sum to -7 are -3 and -4. So, \[m^2-7mn+12n^2 = (m-3n)(m-4n)\]

Oh thankyou!!! you used trial and error?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In a way, yeah. ;o lol. You can simplify from that though, correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yup! thankyou :D

Not a problem, glad to help you again @XxSecnirpxX :) Haha.
