Well, first, you want to do -6.8 + 2.6 which gives you -4.2. Then, leaves you with x - 4.2 = 9.7. Now, add 4.2 to both sides like so, \[x+(-4.2+4.2)=9.7+4.2\] Let me know what you get as the result.
