ok lets give it a try. First measure the size of 7th grade and 8th grade thermometer and post it here. Measure it with a ruler/scale if you can.

So the way i am thinking of is that you first measure the height of both seventh and eighth grade thermometer using a ruler/scale. Then measure the height of eighth grade thermometer till the 10 day mark. Do this far and then we will continue.

the next step is to multiply the height of seventh grade thermometer with the height of eight grade thermometer till the 10 day mark and then divide the whole thing by the full height of eight grade thermometer. This new value will be the new height of your 10 day mark for eighth grade thermometer.
