What economic and social factors in the United States led to differing about slavery in the North and the South?

OpenStudy (mr.z):

The North was more into Industry, city life, and paying most workers (even people of color) whilst the South was more agriculture, unpaid/slave labor, and rural country life. The economy worked like a cyclical. The South sold raw materials to the North and the North sold goods and services to the South.
