I'd go with the aspect of the darkness of human nature. Mr Hyde is the 'dark side' of Jekyll, the repressed monster that Stevenson believed lived in all of us. It also explores science and the idea of 'playing god' that is more prevalent in Frankenstein, but no less poignant. Both stories explore how scientists and science in general can be led away from morality by the lust for knowledge, in Jekyll's case literally turned into a monster by his research.
