Which of the following does NOT described the period of American imperialism? A. a period of nonaggressive American diplomacy and isolation B. a period of increasing American political and economic influence C. a period in which America sought a global empire to rival the empires of nations such as Great Britain D. a period in which America acquired territory overseas

OpenStudy (surana):

Imperialism is basically "go out and conquer lands for us". Nonaggression and isolation is kind of counter to that idea. So...which one do you think would fit?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Surana is wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Definition of imperialism: a policy of extending a country's power and influence through diplomacy or military force. SO, it is the act of a country conquering other countries lands, but using force. D could not be right since it is a period where America somehow acquires territory. C could not be right, what would America be doing with that power? B is basically the same. A seems most logical, the key word being "nonaggressive".

OpenStudy (surana):

Julianne, I was pointing exactly to where I was directing them to because Nonaggression and Isolationism is the exact opposite of Imperialism. So I'm not wrong, actually.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea you are @Surana

OpenStudy (surana):

No. Let me explain further. Nonaggression Isolationism does not describe Imperialism. So When I pointed to A, I was correct.
