How did the Holocaust contribute to ongoing Arab-Israeli conflict?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

One of the main ways in which the Holocaust contributes to this conflict is that after World War II many Jews emigrated to Jerusalem, which increased the size of the Jewish population in the region--forcing many Arabs out of their homes.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Did the places they emigrated to accept them? Or strongly oppose?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It caused an increase in Zionism and a huge increase in emigration to Palestine. The Holocaust was used on the international stage to justify the need for a State where Jews self-govern and that their survival should not be at the whim of governments who may decide to exterminate them or discriminate against them.
