Asian immigrants had to go through Angel island, instead of Ellis and would often be kept there for weeks on end in poor conditions. The white Caucasian Americans distrusted Asian immigrants. most Asian immigrants were turned down and denied entry into the U.S. in 1924 the Asian Exclusion Act (Immigration Act of 1924) was enacted. most western immigrants were allowed entry, after physicals and various tests. immigration for westerners was very hard, but not as difficult as it was for Asian/Eastern immigrants.
