How is the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 an example of nativism?

OpenStudy (zaraxx):

Nativism is the belief that the people native to the country are somehow above immigrants/other races/ethnicities. Nativism is prevalent in the Chinese Exclusion Act because it supports the narrative that white Caucasian native-born Americans are the only ones who belong in America. (which is irony in itself)
