Find the derivative: x/(x^2+1)^1/2. Would greatly appreciate any help as I'm getting stuck in working out the problem just before I get to the answer! Thank you!

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

\[\frac{x}{(x^2+1)^{1/2}}\] you are *differentiating* this? [it looks like an easy integral]

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

if you are differentiating, you can use the quotient rule, and the chain rule

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

or the product rule [personal bug bear, why does the quotient rule even exist?]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

On that note, why have any rule? All we really need is the definition ;)
