Find the average rate of change for the given function from x = 1 to x = 2.
Use the graph below to answer this question:
A. -2 B. -1/2 C. 1/2 D. 2
@misty_fox
By definition, the average rate of change of a function f from x = a to x = b is: \[\frac{f(b) - f(a)}{b - a}\] This is just the slope of the line between the points (a,f(a)) and (b,f(b)). Now, you try it...
SOOOO confused.
Average rate of change is just the slope of a line between two points. Look at your graph: look at the point when x = 1. Look at the point when x = 2. Can you figure out the slope of the line between those two points?
(Remember that slope is rise/run.)
m=1???? idk lol
My teacher was like screaming at me over the phone yesterday over this lol. I had an awful geometry teacher, so any time I'm given graphs I freeze up.
