OpenStudy (anonymous):

Among the members of George Washington’s cabinet, Adams had a pessimistic view of human nature and a dread of democratic excess. Adams was one person who was an absolute pessimist about the capability of human beings to improve their own selves or have a positive impact on the society by the capacity of reasoning. Adams was the person that wrote the book “Discourses on Davila” in the year 1791. The book mainly deals with the subject and situations of French Revolution.
