well look at it this way
you go to the bank and you said, "may I have $45 out of my account?, I'd like to buy a new pair of shoes"

and the teller responds

"well, you're withdrawn you know, so, we can't give you anything"
so you say

"ok, let me put some money in my account then"
cashing, cashing!!! you put in, 145 first, then 247 after

then you ask

"how about now?"

and the teller responds

"well, you're still withdrawn $20 you know, so we still can't"

so...how much were you withdrawn total?
