How do you find a unit vector in the same direction of v= -2i + j? Also how do you find a unit vector in the opposite direction of w= 4i - 3j?

OpenStudy (welshfella):

unit vector = vector / modulus of the vector

OpenStudy (welshfella):

here the modulus id sqrt [(-2)^2 + 1^2]

OpenStudy (welshfella):

* is

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So it would be -2i/√5 + j/√5 ???

OpenStudy (welshfella):

right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Now what about the opposite direction of w?

OpenStudy (welshfella):

well i think the opposite direction is obtained by a change of sign so that would be - 4i + 3j Now find the unit vector as above.

OpenStudy (welshfella):

- its been a long time since i did these but I think i'm correct.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's ok thank you

OpenStudy (welshfella):
