If your question is y=mx and not y=mx+b do you still add b to the equation? will fan and medal

OpenStudy (amistre64):

y=mx is just b=0

OpenStudy (amistre64):

... but what is the question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know but if you have a question like y=4x x=-1 do you just solve y=4x(-1) and not add the rest of the formula?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if y=4x, then there IS no 'rest of it'. y=4x+0 is fine, but redundant since the y intercept of the line 4x is 0, and zero added to anything changes nothing.

thank you very much!

youre welcome
