fractions

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

2/3a - 1/6 = 1/3 --- add 1/6 to both sides 2/3a = 1/3 + 1/6 2/3a = 2/6 + 1/6 2/3a = 1/2 -- divide both sides by 2/3 a = (1/2) / (2/3) a = 1/2 * 3/2 a = 3/4 or without fractions.. 2/3a - 1/6 = 1/3 --- multiply everything by the common denominator of 6 4a - 1 = 2 -- add 1 to both sides 4a = 3 -- divide by 4 a = 3/4
