Which kind of organism is a heterotroph? photosynthesizers producers consumers plants

OpenStudy (rushwr):

A heterotroph is an organism that cannot fix carbon and uses organic carbon for growth. So they are obviously not photosynthesizers nor they are producers. Plants are producers so that's also out. The answer would be consumers.
