OpenStudy (genny7):

What is the sum of a real number and its additive inverse?

zepdrix (zepdrix):

The additive inverse of a number \(\large\rm x\) is going to be \(\large\rm -x\). So the additive inverse of \(\large\rm 2\) is \(\large\rm -2\). When we add \(\large\rm 2\) and \(\large\rm -2\) together, they give us the additive identity element. What number is that? :)

OpenStudy (genny7):
