Ron lost 10 points seven times playing a video game. He then lost an additional 100 points for going over the time limit. What was the total change in his score?
1. so he lost 10 points, seven times. how many points has he lost in this part of the question alone? @bre464
yes i guess
so how many points have already been lost, if he loses 10,seven times?
Ok so lets assume he started out with x points.... he lost 10 points seven times means his score x loses 7*10 points... therefore x-70 is his new score... then he losses an additional 100 points which means (x-70)-100 or x-170... therefore the change in his score is the difference between his old and new score x-(x-170)=170
Now you don't have to algebra up the problem you can simply compute that number, but it might help on problems like these if you are confused as a placeholder while you work out the logic
tbh this is 7th grade math question here didn't you know that already
Ten times seven plus one hundred
