How did events of the past impact the future? Select one event that you have studied in World history and identify what impact it has had on our world. To what recent event can you link it?

1066 - William the Conqueror sails from Normandy to successfully invade Britain. This marks the founding of Modern England. How's that for impact? It was almost 1000 years ago. 1912 - Titanic strikes an ice berg and sinks. The entire ocean liner industry is revised and overhauled as a direct result. Since Titanic not one single passenger has lost their life due to an ice berg. 1939 - Hitler invades Poland, starting WW2. As a direct result of this we have atomic energy, atomic weapons, space rockets, the Cold War, the US as the remaining world superpower, Japanese electronics, a rising China... that's quite an impact
