You can think of it two ways...you have there -(2x^2+14), right? So it's saying -1 (2x^2+14). You distribute the -1 and you are going to get -2x^2-14

or you can just change -(2x^2+14) to +(-2x^2-14) since subtraction is changed to addition and the symbols get switched for all the number on the right side.
