I had a tough time with this... I will just chime in with my simplified summary.

Positive feedback is when the response makes the original stimuli stronger! 

Negative Feedback is when the response makes the stimuli weaker. This is readily apparent when you get cold and you shiver, this is a negative feedback response to make your lowering body temp better.

So: Positive feedback response makes stimuli worse
Negative feedback response go against original stimuli.
