OpenStudy (abhisar):

When direct current is passed through a spring it is compressed but when Alternating current is passed through same spring it starts oscillating. Why?

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

cool, a spring is shaped just like a solenoid :-)

OpenStudy (radar):

@Abhisar There are AC solenoids, google them and read their method of operation.

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Oh, so because in AC current the polarity keeps reversing and there is a point when current is zero that's why it keeps oscillating?

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Thanks both of you c;
