Will medal and fan! An airplane flying at constant air speed, due east, from My City to Your City, in calm weather (no wind of any kind) would log the same flying time for both legs of the trip. Suppose the same trip is taken when there is wind from the west. How would the total (round trip) time in windy weather compare with the total time in calm weather? Use the following values: velocity of the plane = 400 mph East; velocity of the wind = 100 mph E; distance between cities = 1000 miles.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Assuming the wind is constant for the entire trip there and back, it would be the same time for a round trip with the wind as there would be without the wind. The total time would be 5 hours for a round trip.
